At a lot of housing organizations, the person who manages building a home and the person who helps a family move into one are two different people. At In Affordable Housing, Inc. (IAH), they happen to be the same.
We’re proud to congratulate Rod Isom, IAH’s Construction Manager & Housing Counselor, on earning his certification as a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Counselor.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Rod brings the discipline and attention to detail of his service to everything he does. Since joining IAH in 2015, his fingerprints have been on both halves of our work — overseeing residential construction from planning through completion and serving as the administrative engine behind a homebuyer program that has supported more than 8,000 clients. He keeps the logistics of our first-time homebuyer classes running smoothly and makes sure client records stay accurate from the first call to the closing table.
So when a family in Central Arkansas works toward a home, there’s a real chance Rod had a hand in building it and in helping them get the keys.
His new certification deepens the bench at IAH so more families can get the one-on-one guidance they need — and Rod brings something not every counselor can. He knows the house itself. Having managed construction from the ground up, he can talk to a family about the bones of a property: what to expect in upkeep, what a repair actually costs, and how to plan for the long haul of owning a home.
Please join us in celebrating Rod on this achievement. If you or someone you know is ready to start the path to homeownership — or wants help staying in the home you have — the IAH team is ready to help. Call 501221-2203, for more information or set up an appointment.
