Arkansas Veterans: $700,000 in HAVEN Home Grants Opens July 1 — and the Clock Starts Now

For the men and women who served our country, a safe, stable, accessible home isn't a luxury — it's the very least a grateful nation can offer. Beginning July 1, 2026, a new round of funding opens to help make that home a reality, and Arkansas veterans are eligible.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) is making $700,000 in Housing Assistance for Veterans (HAVEN) grants available across its five-state territory — and Arkansas is one of those states. That means veterans right here in Central Arkansas and across the state can compete for these dollars.

HAVEN supports qualifying veterans and service members who have a service-related disability, and Gold Star Families may also qualify. The grants are delivered through FHLB Dallas member banks and credit unions — including lenders here in Arkansas — and can be put toward home modifications, new construction, or down payment assistance.

For a veteran in Little Rock adapting a home for a wheelchair, a family putting down roots somewhere new, or a first-time buyer anywhere in the state working to reach closing day, that's a real step toward the front door.

What's available

• Up to $25,000 per household

• First-come, first-served — applications are funded in the order they arrive

• $100,000 annual cap per participating member institution

• Property must be located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, or Texas

• Open until the funds are depleted or December 31, 2026 — whichever comes first

Here's the part Arkansas veterans need to hear

That $700,000 isn't $700,000 for Arkansas alone — it's $700,000 for five states combined. Veterans in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Mexico will be reaching for the very same pool, and it's released on a first-come, first-served basis. When it's gone, it's gone — possibly long before December arrives.

The translation is simple: the veterans who get prepared before July 1 are the ones most likely to still have a seat at the table when the funding opens.
